Jean Paul Sartre examines Jean Genet's life and works in the book, Saint Genet. His chapter on Genet's aesthetics is entitled 'A Strange Hell of Beauty'. In these drawings, I have transcribed (in linear layers) the text from this chapter. The pattern of grouped bars reference early drawings on which I drew on blank musical sheet paper. The 'staves' ricochet across the boundaries of the panels creating unanticipated syncopation and bursts.
